A wonderful little place on a beautiful Heart Lake in Northern Michigan near Gaylord. Great for our family, great swimming, clean grounds, nice cottages and very affordable! We're going back again next summer. Very friendly and nice owner too! They have a website you can visit if you'd like - HeartLakeResort dot com. We might even go back this fall for a fall color weekend. We especially enjoyed sitting around the bon-fire at night and enjoying the friendly guests and the night stars. The swimming for the kids and beach was also great and we met some other very nice families. The tall trees, green grass and flower gardens help make for a relaxing time...

Heart Lake is a superb, out-of-the-way place nested on a small, clear lake in northern Michigan. It is quiet and sedate, and has a real family feel to it. It is safe and clean. We always enjoy our time up there. The fire pit with lots of free firewood is a real bonus. And let's face it, this place is very near some of the best golf in the US. John, the owner-manager, is a real fun guy who does a great job with the place; you'll like him.
This was our 12th summer vacation at Heart Lake Resort. The cabins are charming and have everything you need for a casual, relaxing vacation. The lake, with it's sandy shore, clear water, and nice temperature, is 'no-wake' (very slow speeds) on the resort side but the larger part of the lake is fun for jet skis and boats. There's no road between the cabins and the lake so there's no worry about children crossing back and forth. The grounds are very pretty and nicely maintained, with canoes, a swimming dock and nightly bonfires. The location is ideal for day-trips to other major spots in the upper Lower Peninsula. The owner, John, couldn't be more helpful and everything you need is nearby. I've recommended Heart Lake Resort to many friends who are now also return visitors. We held a family reunion there and I've returned with groups of women for 'Girls Weekends'. On top of all this, the rates are extremely reasonable! I know we'll keep coming back for years to come.

Heart Lake Resort is so much fun. Took to kids and they loved it too and not to mention the Host is the friendliest guy you could ever meet. The best part is he has a group dinner night that he host and makes the best food. The atmosphere is so relaxed and tons of memories to share. This place is a must go to. Oh by the way he is open year round!!

Heart Lake Resort is the best place to go for a fun and relaxing vacation. My family has been coming to the lake for 10 years now and has always had a blast. The lake is a nice size all sports lake for fishing and boating. No matter what time of the year you go itÕs always great. John is the best host around; he will tell you the best golf courses to sightseeing places .The cabins are always neat and clean and nice sizes for families. The beach is a nice size beach with two docks one for swimming one for fishing. You will always meet new people and the kids will have made plenty of new friends by the time they leave. The best part of all is the nightly bonfire and marshmallow roast.

When we found Heart Lake Resort 13 years ago, the shallow, sandy beach area located right outside our cabin was ideal for our 3 young children. We met a couple of families that year who also had kids about the same age, and have vacationed together the same week ever since. The memories they have of swimming out to the sandbar, feeding the chickens, putting on dance shows for the other guests, jet skiing, tubing, and roasting marshmellos at the campfire every night will never be forgotten. Now that they are all teenagers, day trips to Mackinaw Island, Heartwick Pines, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs, all within an hour away, insure that we never have the same vacation twice. John the Owner is a perfect host, always ready to tell you where to get the best deals on pizza, golf, or anything else in the Gaylord area. We are sure that we will be sharing Heart Lake Resort with our Grandchildren some day!

Just this year my son and I were fortunate enough to stumble across Heart Lake Resort. It is a beautiful, relaxing and very clean little resort right on Heart Lake. There is plenty to do; fishing, boating, swimming, canoe, and bonfires at night. John, the owner instantly makes you feel right at home and is so informative about the area. On our next visit my son is looking forward to feeding the chickens and getting fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning! We had such a great time that we can't wait to go back!

A group of us started snowmobiling in the Gaylord area about 10 years ago, every other weekend during the winter. We stayed at the "usual" chain motels ... until about 4 years ago when we discovered Heart Lake Resort. We figured by the name, the prices would be high. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that they were the Best Deal in town! Clean, comfortable, and fully equipped cabins and all this across the street from the main snowmobile trail. John the owner, immediately welcomed us and made us feel completely at home at his cabins. He is very accomodating, friendly and is one of the few businesses that provides honest and up to the minute snow reports/trail conditions when we call. We only wished we would have found his place 10 years ago! There have been absolutely NO disappointments ever, during any of our stays at Heart Lake Resort.
